PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali metal cell that operates with high reliability and high precision for a long period of time and can be used for an atomic oscillator of low power consumption. ! SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an alkali metal cell includes the processes of: forming a first opening part and a second opening part which penetrates a substrate 110; joining a first transparent substrate 121 to one surface of the substrate; installing a compound containing alkali metal in the second opening part; and forming a first joint metal layer of first metal at a part corresponding to between the first opening part and the second opening part.
