Provided in an embodiment of the present invention are an application recommendation method and terminal, the method comprising: obtaining current contextual information of the terminal; obtaining the number of the contextual information of the terminal when the terminal is running a first application, the first application being an application stored in the terminal; determining a recommendation mechanism to be used according to the number of the contextual information of the terminal when the terminal is running the first application, and determining a second application corresponding to the current contextual information according to the recommendation mechanism to be used, the second application being the recommended application; displaying the second application. The present invention improves the accuracy of predicting the applications to be used by a user, and can accurately determine the recommended applications with shortage of historical information for users using applications, thus enhancing user experience.
