<p>SMALL DIAMETER ENDOSCOPIC STAPLER A surgical stapler (10) is described herein which includes a shaft portion (112) and a tool assembly (114) supported on a distal end of the shaft portion (112). The tool assembly includes an anvil (182) and a cartridge body (184) which rotatably supports a plurality of staples (186) within notches (196). At least one firing cam (138a) is provided to sequentially engage and rotate each of the staples (186) to fire the staples (186) from the cartridge body (184). In embodiments, the cartridge body (184) includes two spaced legs (188) which support two linear rows of staples (186). Each of the spaced legs (188) of the cartridge body (184) is supported within one of a first and a second cartridge channel (140a, 140b). The cartridge channels (140a, 140b) are fixed to opposite sides of a pivot member (157) which is pivotally supported at a distal end of the shaft portion (112) between the shaft portion (112) and the tool assembly (114) such that translation of the first and second cartridge channels (140a, 140b) in opposite directions effects articulation of the tool assembly (114) in relation to the shaft portion (112).</p> |
