PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting cancer.SOLUTION: A method for determining absence or presence of one or more cancer types in an animal is disclosed in the present specification. In some embodiments, a lipid amount of lipid in a sample (e.g., a bodily fluid or treatment thereof) stemming from the animal is used with a predictive model to make a determination. The lipid amount can be measured, in some instances, using a mass spectrometry system. In one embodiment, the method for determining the absence or presence of one or more cancer types in the animal is provided that includes the processes of: determining the lipid amount of lipid in a lipid set in the sample stemming from the animal; and determining the presence or absence of at least one cancer type in the animal with the predictive model, in which the lipid amount of lipid in the lipid set includes an input of the predictive model, and the sample includes the bodily fluid or treatment thereof. |
