PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method which can precisely print on a subsequent print area in printing on a preceding print area of a recording medium and subsequently printing in the subsequent print area. ! SOLUTION: A printer 1 can print on a preceding print area W1 and a subsequent print area W2 sequentially by dividing a workpiece W having a long shape into the preceding print area W1 and the subsequent print area W2 along a longitudinal direction. The printer 1 extracts a feature point P1 in the preceding print area W1, adjusts a position of the subsequent print area W2 based on the extracted feature point P1, and starts printing on the subsequent print area W2 in printing on the subsequent print area W2. !
