<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a performance index of a thermoelectric material including no spatial portion or no fine-line structure by providing one or more spatial portions or fine-line structures so as to prevent a heat flux or a current from being transferred to a terminal portion of the thermoelectric material or into an electrode portion. <P>SOLUTION: By providing a spatial portion or a fine-line structure in place of the spatial portion in a thermoelectric material, heat conductivity by any other material than a working material movable in a thermoelectric transducer can be reduced as further as possible. If a thermoelectric material surface or a surface confronted to the thermoelectric material is modified or the surface is steepled, a thermal excitation barrier height or a tunnel barrier width can be reduced in emitting the working material from the distal end of steeples to the space. By reducing a thermoelectric amount by direct lattices between both end faces holding the spatial portion therebetween without changing a current amount by the working material, a performance index of the thermoelectric transducer including the spatial portion or linked spatial portion in the thermoelectric material can be increased more than that of a conventional thermoelectric material including no spatial portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
