615,880. Photographic silver chloride emulsions. KENDALL, J. D., and FRY, D. J. Aug. 20, 1946, No. 24736. [Class 98 (ii)] A 3-alkyl-isoquinoline such as the 3-methyl, -ethyl, -propyl, -isopropyl or -isobutyl derivative, or a mineral acid salt of the same is included in a silver chloride photographic emulsion, during its manufacture, as a blueblack agent. An example describes addition of an alcoholic solution of 3-methyl-isoquinoline to a gelatine silver chloride emulsion of the gaslight type, the coating of this on paper, exposure and development with a metolhydroquinone developer. The silver chloride emulsion may contain a small proportion of other silver halide.
