摘要 <p>Artificial filaments having aperiodical variations in denier along their length are obtained by causing impulsive variations in the rate of supply of spinning liquid to the nozzles and by leading the filaments, after their formation in a coagulating bath or gaseous setting <PICT:0659421/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0659421/IV (a)/2> <PICT:0659421/IV (a)/3> <PICT:0659421/IV (a)/4> medium, into contact with an eccentric thread guiding disc, which is freely movable on a horizontal or almost horizontal axis of rotation, and thence to a positively driven pulling-off device, the filaments running over only a part of the periphery of the eccentric disc and the disc being set in motion by the filaments alternately by adhesion and by sliding friction. The aperiodic variations in the denier render the filaments suitable for the manufacture of fabric resembling shantung fabric. The spinning liquid may be supplied to the nozzle by a pump with irregular delivery. The pump may be provided with a constant drive and an auxiliary drive which imparts to the pump shaft a rotational velocity which is a multiple of its normal velocity a few times and for a short period during each revolution, e.g. the momentary velocity may be three or four times the normal velocity of revolution. As shown in Fig. 1, the spinning pump 1, operating impulsively, forces the spinning solution through filter 2, and nozzle 4 to form filaments 5 which pass through the coagulating bath 6 and then past the freely rotatable guide-disc 8 which is eccentrically supported on shaft 7. The filaments may be passed to stretching devices, deacidifying baths, and other treatment baths, and may then be wound up. The disc may be solid, or it may have part of its interior cut out. If its weight is too low, it may be provided with an extra weight. The edge of the disc may be grooved. The irregularities in denier caused by contact of the filaments with the disc are enhanced by the irregularities in denier and state of coagulation or setting of the filaments due to the irregular extrusion. The process may be used in dry or wet spinning processes. As shown in Fig. 4, the spinning pump 1 has a shaft 13 to which a ratchet wheel 14 is fixed. Rotating on bolt 16 is a gear-wheel 17 and ring 18. Pawls 20 (Fig. 6), transmit the movement of gear-wheel 17 via ratchet wheel 14 to the pump shaft 13. Gear-wheel 17 is driven by pinion 21. Disc 22 with ring 23 also rotates on the ratchet wheel 14. Pawls 25 (Fig. 7), transmit the movement of disc 22, which is normally held stationary by means of a spiral spring. Cam disc 31 has three cams 32 which give, three times per revolution of disc 31, a temporary movement to disc 22 and the pump shaft is momentarily rotated faster than its normal speed. During this temporary movement the ratchet wheel 14 rotates underneath pawls 20 of gear-wheel 17 which continues rotating with constant angular velocity. Specification 516,458 is referred to.</p>
