A mixture of methyl vinyl polysiloxane and methyl methacrylate containing 30-60 per cent by weight of methyl vinyl polysiloxane is copolymerized. Preferably the polymerization is catalyzed with 0.5-1.0 per cent of catalyst, e.g. benzoyl peroxide; tertiary butyl perbenzoate; ditertiary butyl diperphthalate; or ditertiary butyl peroxide. A suitable temperature is 100-125 DEG C., the initial temperature being lower, e.g. 60-80 DEG C. Figures are given in the Specification for the hardness and power factors of a number of copolymers prepared with different catalysts. Specification 620,692 is referred to.
