In a method for populating multi-segment layouts with related multi-modal medical images, a relationship is determined between subsets of the multimodal medical images. The relationship is used to determine selected subsets initially selected for display in respective segments of a segmented display (Figure 2). Appropriate images relating to selected subsets are then used to populate the remaining display segments when a further subset is manually (e.g. by dragging) selected. The determined relationship may indicate whether associated images were reconstructed from the same data, are used in the reconstruction of other scans, or acquired in the same study. Also disclosed is a method for providing alignment between a set of images of a patient, wherein: a relationship between subsets of multimodal medical images is determined; the relationship is used to determine which image is selected from each subset of images, and to determine a method for aligning (registering) the images for visualisation. Relationships may indicate subset images are from the same patient or body region. A relationship may be used to determine a hierarchy of alignments between scans. |
