[Class 53] An accumulator having a jelly electrolyte is provided with an oxidizing substance in the electrolyte and a layer of an oily material on the surface of the electrolyte. The oxidizing substance may consist of potassium permanganate or dichromate and the oily material may consist of liquid paraffin or glycerine which may be placed on the electrolyte in liquid form or absorbed in glass wool or other porous material which is placed on the surface of the electrolyte. The sulphuric acid electrolyte may be jellified with sodium or other silicate, asbestos and cellulose. |
