PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a watch device which is installed on the side of a person to be watched to determine fault occurrence if a fault occurs to a line etc., of a system which provides watch service.SOLUTION: A watch device 10 connected to a television device 5 that a person M1 to be watched daily operates transmits a connection confirmation signal to a watch server 20 at every predetermined unit period. The watch server 20 transmits a connection response signal responding to the signal to the watch device 10 each time the watch server 20 receives the connection confirmation signal transmitted from the watch device 10. Consequently, the watch device 10 determines whether a fault occurs to a line etc., of the system according to whether the connection response signal can be received responding to the connection confirmation signal transmitted by itself.
