[Class 81(ii)] Apparatus for excluding sound from the ears comprises a flexible head band, ear discs, means for exerting pressure by the ear discs against the ears, adjustable ear plugs for excluding sound and cotton wool for insertion into the ears under screw pressure, the cotton wool being fed from a reel located in the ear discs. As shown in Fig. 2, an ear disc 3 is provided with an adjustable screw plunger 10, the inner end of which is provided with a cap 13 covered with a bonnet 15 of rubber. The ear disc carries a reel 18 of twisted cotton wool threads 17, the cotton wool being led through a pad 6 of soundabsorbent material and through a groove in the cap 13 for insertion into the ears. The ear disc is pivotally supported by a member 23 slidable in a channel 25a in the head band and locked in position by screw 26. A spring strip 28 slidable in groove 25b and locked by screw 29 presses the ear disc against the ear. In a modification, Fig. 4, the head band and ear discs are adjusted by means of a screw 34 acting upon members 32a and 32b pivoted at 33. |
