<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoisting machine of an elevator, which can substantially simplify work required for cleaning and which can maintain a rope race for a sheave always in a clean state. <P>SOLUTION: The hoisting machine 1 has the sheave 2 provided to be freely rotate around a predetermined axis, the rope race 6 formed on an outer periphery face of the sheave 2, a support stand 7 provided below the sheave 2, and a cleaning brush 9 attached to the support stand 7.
