The machine of the invention for making adjustably ventilated cigarettes having a first portion (23) with a first slit (19) and a second portion (24) with a second slit (20), comprises a first conveyor (30) which is movable along a first feed path (P1 ) and which comprises a plurality of first flutes (32) for receiving the second portions (24) of the cigarettes (3), a second conveyor (31 ) which is movable along a second feed path (P2) substantially parallel to the first path and which comprises a plurality of gripping means (33) having second flutes (34) for retaining the first portions (23) of the cigarettes (3) and movement means (35) for moving the gripping means (33 ) and being capable of imparting torque, during the movement of the two conveyors (30, 31 ), to one of the two portions (23, 24) of the cigarette which, by turning about the axis (3a) of the selfsame cigarette (3) by a predetermined angle (Θ), offsets the first slit (19) relative to the second slit (20), thus causing the second slit (20) to close. |
