Disclosed are a method and apparatus for inter prediction. The method for inter prediction includes the steps of: calculating a gradient between a predicted motion vector (PMV) obtained by a motion vector prediction of a prediction target block and an integer motion vector (IMV) obtained by a motion prediction of an integer pixel unit based on the PMV; performing the motion prediction through the interpolation of a fractional pixel unit in a preset direction based on the gradient; and drawing the optimum motion vector of the prediction target block based on the motion prediction.
