摘要 A user equipment (UE) may perform an inter radio access technology (IRAT) measurement in time slots not deemed to be carrying critical data. In such instances, the UE only transmits and decodes critical data in the critical time slots when a serving cell signal is low for a determined period of time. Otherwise, when the time slots do not carry critical data, i.e., non-critical time slots, the UE stops transmitting and decoding and uses the non-critical time slots for IRAT measurement.

A method of wireless communication, comprising: determining whether a serving cell signal strength is below a threshold level for a predetermined period of time, when a measurement gap corresponding to an idle time slot is not long enough for an inter-radio access technology (IRAT) measurement or no measurement gap exists; decoding and transmitting critical data during downlink and uplink time slots when the signal strength is below the threshold level for the predetermined period of time; stopping decoding and transmitting non-critical data during downlink and uplink timeslots when the signal strength is below the threshold level for the predetermined period of time; and performing IRAT measurement during non-critical time slots, in which the non-critical time slots comprise the time slots that do not carry the critical data.
