The disclosure provides compositions for treating an ocular condition. The composition comprises a physiologically effective amount of an androgen, wherein the composition is suitable for topical administration to an eye. The disclosure further provides methods for treating an ocular condition with the disclosed compositions.

An ophthalmic emulsion comprising an active ingredient, the active ingredient consisting of a physiologically effective amount of testosterone, and castor oil, wherein said emulsion is suitable for topical administration to an eye; and wherein the testosterone is present in the emulsion in an amount from about 0.01 w/w % to about 0.30 w/w %.
