FLAKE GRAPHITE IRON AND METHODS OF PREPARING FLAKE GRAPHITE IRON

A flake graphite iron comprises: 2.6-3.2 wt% of carbon (C); 1.6-2.0 wt% of silicon (Si); 0.6-0.8 wt% of manganese (Mn); 0.1-0.15 wt% of sulfur (S); at least higher than 0-0.05 wt% of phosphorus (P); and a residual amount of iron (Fe). A weight ratio (C/S) between the carbon and the sulfur ranges from 18 to 27, and a weight ratio (Mn/S) between the manganese and the sulfur ranges from 4 to 8. A high strength flake graphite iron is obtained by controlling the weight ratio between the sulfur and the manganese, and the weight ratio between the carbon and the sulfur.
