The flap has a housing (1) for a butterfly valve (3) that is pivotable around a pivot axis (2). The housing comprises two plates (4) that are arranged adjacent to each other, where each plate has two plate segments (5) with a recess (6) for a partial area of the housing. The plate segments are connected to the housing in a radial direction, where abutting edges (7) of the plates are not connected with one another in a flow direction. The plates are made from silicate i.e. calcium silicate. A reinforcement element (9) designed as a metal plate insert is arranged between the plates.
