The printing device (1) has an adjusting device (27) for aligning the substrates (2) with respect to print mask (4) prior to a printing operation. The adjusting device has a detecting unit (14) that detects position of substrates with respect to print mask, and gripping device (15) which grips the substrate removed from support plate (20). An alignment unit (11) of adjusting device displaces or rotates support plate, so as to align distant substrate with respect to gripping device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) printing system; and (2) method for operating printing device or printing system.
