Tipping actuator for a conveyor system

An armature for use in the grading of fruit is described. The armature provides smooth tilting of a fruit carrying cavity to mitigate damage to the fruit during discharge from the conveyor. The carriers (23) move along a conveyor (22) and through a ramp (19) to the armature (13a). The armature (13a) allows the carrier (23) to only tip partially (X) until the carrier moves past the armature, when it can tip fully (Y).
