Disclosed is a method for managing energy usage. The method comprises the steps of (a) activating a blackout time period corresponding to blackout conditions; (b) obtaining an allocated power value associated with the blackout time period; (c) metering at least one of consumed power and corresponding consumed energy during the blackout time period to determine a consumed power value and a consumed energy value; (d) prompting for a reduced load condition when the consumed power value exceeds the allocated power value; (e) and generating a first signal to trigger an alert when the consumed power value exceeds the allocated power value. |
