Disclosed is a milking platform with a leg spreader device with a controllable light source for giving a different indicator signal for each stage of a milking process for a dairy cow to give an unskilled operator information. The partly automated multi-cow or other animal milking platform for a milking process which involves a human operator includes at each milking position in or near the platform surface, there is a signalling means providing signals which are readily viewable by said human operator in use. Control means are provided to give a different, operator viewable, signal, in use, from the signalling means for each one of the several phases of said milking process. A controller means allows or assists the operator, in use, to control one or more phases of the milking process for each individual animal. The signalling means includes an illuminable area whose colour is changeable or a signal colour is pulsed or varied in brightness over time to provide different signals. Each milking position a teat or udder illumination source. |
