The invention relates to a holographic composite element and to a method for the production thereof. According to said method, a carrier layer (12) is supplied to an application unit (26), in which a flowable holographic material is stored, a partial coating (14) consisting of said holographic material is applied to the carrier layer (12) by the applicator (26) by way of a coating method and a blank (16) is formed and the blank (16) is exposed by means of an exposure device (28) mounted downstream of the application unit.
