The present invention pertains to an auto tensioner equipped with: a base having a cylindrical section; a rotating member supported so as to be rotatable relative to the base; a pulley rotatably provided on the rotating member; a friction member sandwiched between the inner-circumferential surface of the cylindrical section and the rotating member in the radial direction of the cylindrical section; and a coil spring which has one end fastened to the friction member and the other end fastened to the base, is positioned in a compressed state in the axial direction of the cylindrical section, presses the friction member to the rotating member in the axial direction, and rotates and biases the rotating member in one direction relative to the base via the friction member. Therein, the friction member has: an arcing surface capable of sliding contact along the inner-circumferential surface of the cylindrical section; a first fastening part for fastening to the rotating member, and positioned on the one-direction side of the arcing surface in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical section; and a second fastening part for fastening to one end of the coil spring. |
