The invention relates to a domestic appliance, in particular a domestic refrigeration appliance (1). The domestic appliance comprises an interior chamber, an electronic control apparatus which has an electronics system (20) and which is designed to control at least one function of the domestic appliance during operation of the domestic appliance, and a door leaf (2) for opening and closing the interior chamber, which door leaf has an inner face which faces the interior chamber and an outer face (7) which is averted from the interior chamber. A recessed handle (4) is arranged in the outer face (7) of the door leaf (2) and comprises a handle (13) which forms an undercut (16) in relation to the outer face (7) of the door leaf (2). The domestic appliance further comprises a lighting arrangement having at least one lighting means which is, in particular, in the form of an LED (21) and which is designed to illuminate the recessed handle (4). At least a bulk of the electronics system (20) and the at least one lighting means (21) form a common assembly (22) which is arranged within the door leaf (2) next to the undercut (16), so that the at least one lighting means (21) can shine its light out of the undercut (16) into the recessed handle (4).
