Provided are a multicast fast protection switching method and device, the method comprising: determining a primary path and a secondary path to a source node, the secondary path having a minimum end overlap with the primary path; simultaneously receiving the multicast traffic replicated by an upstream neighbor node by the primary path and the secondary path and replicating the multicast traffic received by the primary path to a downstream neighbor node; if the primary path fails, replicating the multicast traffic received by the secondary path to the downstream neighbor node. By means of the minimum end overlap of the primary path and the secondary path, the present invention overcomes the complete separation of the physical topology of a primary path and a secondary path from a routing node to a multicast source required by the fault protection switching in the a multicast network, and expands the coverage of the fault protection switching in the multicast network. |
