653,513. Measuring moisture content. BUHLER, FRATELLI. Aug. 1, 1947, No. 20905. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1946. [Class 97 (iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] An apparatus for determining moisture content com prises a weigh beam 11 supporting a lower pan 8 for moist material and a member 4 which extends into a ver tically movable drying chamber 3 and is arranged to support a pan 8<SP>1</SP>, containing the sample being dried, wher the chamber 3 has been lowered. In operation the pan 8 is loaded with moist material until the scale registers zero on its indicator 10, after which the material is transferred to the pan 81 which is then supported on rests 9 due to the chamber being raised. The chamber is then heated, the steam escaping from the drying material exhausts through a vent 6, and, finally, the chamber is lowered so that the pan 8<SP>1</SP> is supported by the beam and the loss in weight is indicated. During the drying period the next sample of wet material is prepared on the pan 8. |
