An endoscope system (10) is provided with: an endoscope (1) that includes an image pickup unit (1a) which can pick up an image of an image pickup target (Pt); a display unit (6) that displays an image picked up by the image pickup unit (1a); an endoscope-use position sensor (5) that detects the position of the endoscope (1) inside of a body cavity (B); a distance measuring unit (1c) that measures the distance from the tip of the endoscope (1) to the image pickup target (Pt); a position calculation unit (71) that calculates the position of the endoscope tip and the image pickup target (Pt) on the basis of the information of the endoscope-use position sensor (5) and distance measuring unit (1c); a position storage unit (72) that stores the positions calculated by the position calculation unit (71); and a direction indicating unit (75) that indicates, on the display unit (6), the direction in which the image pickup target is present. |
