A method for determining a pulse sequence for operating a magnetic resonance apparatus, said method comprising: in a computer, accessing a randomizing algorithm; in said computer, configuring a pulse sequence for operating a magnetic resonance apparatus, said pulse sequence comprising a plurality of consecutive pulse sequence segments and a plurality of pre-pulses, by determining, with said randomizing algorithm, a number of said consecutive pulse sequence segments that occur between two pre-pulses of said pulse sequence; and making said pulse sequence with said number of consecutive pulse sequence segments between said two pre-pulses determined by said randomizing algorithm, available at an output of said computer in an electronic form that allows said pulse sequence to be used to operate said magnetic resonance apparatus.
