The present invention relates to a method for preparing 2,6-dimethyl-6-alkyloxy(or hydroxyl)heptaldehyde, comprising the following steps: step I, placing 2,6-dimethyl-2-alkyloxy(or hydroxyl)-7-octene, a solvent and water in a reactor, charging an O3/O2 mixture into the reactor, after the completion of the reaction, layer-separating the products obtained, and charging a protective gas into the resulting oil phase for protection; step II, adding a bisulphite or pyrosulphite solution into the oil phase obtained from step I, and then increasing the temperature, after the completion of the reaction, neutralizing the resulting products using an alkaline solution, then separating the oil and water phases, washing the oil phase to neutral, and separating the oil and water phases, wherein the oil phase obtained is a crude product 2,6-dimethyl-6-alkyloxy(or hydroxyl)heptaldehyde. The present invention has a simple process, a high conversion rate of raw materials, a high product yield, and is environmentally friendly, has a low subsequent separation difficulty, good industrial reliability, and is suitable for industrial production. |
