The present invention relates to an electric motor drive control device equipped with a plurality of activation paths consisting of an inverter and windings corresponding to a plurality of phases and also to an electric motor drive control method. The electric motor drive control device comprises: a current detection unit for detecting currents between the output points of an inverter and windings or between the windings and the connection point of the windings; an inverter setting unit for setting an inverter in an activation path where an activation abnormality has occurred to a predetermined state; a torque detection unit for, based on the currents detected by the current detection unit in the activation path where the activation abnormality has occurred, detecting torque; and a control unit for, based on the torque detected by the torque detection unit, controlling an inverter that is normal. This improves the controllability of an electric motor when a braking torque occurs due to an activation abnormality. |
