This solid state imaging device is provided with: a plurality of pixels resulting from disposing in a matrix shape a photoelectric conversion unit that generates a first signal charge resulting from photoelectric conversion of incoming light; a pixel signal processing unit that has a plurality of first charge accumulation circuits that output first pixel signals that are in accordance with the first signal charges, and a plurality of second charge accumulation units that output second pixel signals resulting from reducing the signal charges to a predetermined number of pixels; and a differential analog-digital conversion unit that has a plurality of first difference calculation units, which output a first difference pixel signal of the first pixel signals and second pixel signals for each column of pixels, a plurality of first analog-digital conversion units, which perform analog-digital conversion of the first difference pixel signals, and a plurality of second analog-digital conversion units that perform analog-digital conversion of the second pixel signals. The first analog-digital conversion units output a digital value having fewer bits than that of the second analog-digital conversion units. |
