摘要 In the present invention, an endoscope system is provided with: an endoscope-use position sensor that detects the position of the endoscope; a distance measuring unit that measures the distance from the tip of the endoscope to an image pickup target; a position calculation unit that calculates the position of the endoscope tip and the image pickup target on the basis of the information of the endoscope-use position sensor and distance measuring unit; a first drive amount calculation unit that calculates a drive amount for a field-of-view adjusting mechanism by using the position of the tip of endoscope and a position stored in a position storage unit for storing the position of the image pickup target calculated by the position calculation unit; a second drive amount calculation unit that calculates a drive amount for the field-of-view adjusting mechanism in accordance with the results of a comparison made by a comparison unit for comparing an image of the image pickup target stored in an image storage unit which stores images of the image pickup target picked up by an image pickup unit, and a newly picked up image of the image pickup target; and a determination unit that determines which drive amount to use to drive a drive unit with, from between the first drive amount calculated by the first drive amount calculation unit and the second drive amount calculated by the second drive amount calculation unit.
