The method involves providing a plate-shaped carrier (110). A decoration (130) is applied on a portion of the plate-shaped carrier. The decoration is template-identically applied by successively applying multiple decorative layers (131) with partially different surface applications based on provided three-dimensional decoration data i.e. electronic data. The three-dimensional decoration data are provided by a three-dimensional scanning of a decoration template. The decorative layers are applied by direct printing. The decorative layers are formed from radiation curable color and/or ink. An independent claim is also included for a decorated wall- and floor panel.
