PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical body grinding device capable of improving the machining quality of a spherical body and capable of raising the grinding efficiency.SOLUTION: This spherical body grinding device 1 which grinds a spherical body by rotating a rotating disc body 3 relative to a fixed disc body 2, applying the pressure in the axial direction, includes: a spherical diameter measurer 6 which measures the diameter of the spherical body 5 during the machining; and a PLC 7 which controls the grinding efficiency for grinding the spherical body 5 based on a measured value of the spherical diameter measurer 6. The spherical diameter measurer 6 includes a posture changing mechanism 64 which changes the posture of the measured spherical body 5. The PLC 7 includes: a setting means 71 which sets the machining completion dimension; a machining efficiency computing section 72 which computes an average diameter based on the measured values Dm; a machining efficiency computing section 72 which sets a target value of the machining efficiency in response to the set value, which is set by the setting means 71, and the average diameter; and a machining efficiency computing section 72 which stops the machining by comparing the measured values Dm with the machining completion dimension. |
