<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display for vehicles, capable of switching images in an extremely short period of time while suppressing degradation of display quality, and of using display colors in accordance with nature of images to be displayed on a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display for vehicles 1 includes a liquid crystal panel 8 having a plurality of pixels, each having variable transmittance which is controlled by applied voltage; and illuminating means having a plurality of light sources 16-20, each of which emits light of a different color to a first display area 50a. When a CPU 30 outputs a command signal for erasing an old image, a drive circuit 28 responds to the command signal and accordingly controls voltage applied to each pixel. At the same time, the CPU 30 outputs a command signal for displaying a new image and the drive circuit 28 responds to the command signal and accordingly controls voltage applied to each pixel, thereby switching to a new image. The CPU 30 also turns of all the light sources 16-20 when switching images and turns on some of the light sources 16 to 20 in accordance with a new image after a prescribed period of time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
