Trailer coupling

The coupling (10) features a ball (12) supported by a neck (14) with a cranked end (16) and a lower end pivotable in a bearing (22). The projection of the central axis (70) of the ball on the vertical longitudinal plane (60) rotates through at least 80 degrees as the neck swings about its pivot axis (30) from the working position (A) into the rest position (R). The lowest point (PR) of either the neck or the ball in the rest position does not lie below the level of the lowest point (PA) of the neck in the working position. The pivotal movement is effected by an electric motor and e.g. self-locking transmission.
