The present invention relates to a system for predicting front geological features and a method thereof, wherein geological abnormalities in the front in the direction of excavation can be investigated using the sound of elastic waves generated by shocks between the cutter of a tunnel excavator and bedrock during tunnel excavation using a tunnel excavator such as a tunnel boring machine (TBM). The system for predicting front geological features for a tunnel excavator comprises: one or more pilot geophones mounted on the tunnel excavator to receive the vibration signals of the tunnel excavator; one or more geophones for elastic waves installed inside the excavation tunnel of the tunnel excavator to receive the vibration signals of external elastic waves as raw data; and an analysis device for removing the vibration signals of direct waves and external noise vibration signals by pretreating the raw data, extracting the group of elastic waves having the vibration signals of reflected elastic waves reflected on the geological abnormalities of the elastic waves, and determining geological abnormalities, wherein the vibration signals of the tunnel excavator and elastic waves generated by the cutter of the tunnel excavator and an excavation surface are directly received. Accordingly, front geological abnormalities can be predicted without interruption of excavating operation, so accident caused by the collapse of a gallery and delay in construction can be prevented easily by preventing the collapse of the excavation surface (gallery). Also, geological abnormalities on the bottom of an excavation tunnel can be predicted easily and accurately at low cost.
|
