<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of quenching a crankshaft which can suppress deformation of the crankshaft when quenching the crankshaft by using a high-density energy beam, and to provide a crankshaft manufactured thereby. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of quenching the crankshaft 10 and a crankshaft 10, a high-density energy beam is given to a pin of the crankshaft 10 to form a hardened layer in the pin. In the outer peripheral surface of the pin, the outer peripheral surface apart from the rotary axis Y of the crankshaft further than the axis X of the pin is defined as a first irradiation area A, and the outer peripheral surface aligned with the rotary axis Y of the crankshaft than the axis X of the pin is defined as a second irradiation area B. According to heat capacities of the first and second irradiation areas A and B, the high-density energy beam is radiated to the first and second irradiation areas A and B, respectively, while differing output mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
