The present invention relates to a composition for making a coffee beverage, the composition comprising: roast and ground coffee that has a particle size distribution such that the median particle diameter or X50 of the particles is between 700 to 1250 µm; and a milk powder has a median particle diameter or X50 of from 50 µm to 3 mm. wherein the ratio by weight of the roast and ground coffee to the milk powder is from 4:1 to 2:3. The composition may also comprise sugar in an amount up to 25% of the weight of the total composition.
