A fixing device (16) is provided with a magnetic flux generating unit (76), a first rotary body (71), a second rotary body (72), a fixing belt (75), a temperature sensing portion (78), a stopped time measuring portion (8, 64), an abnormality determination portion (8, 64), and a heating delay portion (8, 64). The fixing belt is extended on and between the first rotary body and the second rotary body, and is heated by the first rotary body which is heated. The temperature sensing portion is disposed on a downstream side from the first rotary body in a rotation direction of the fixing belt, and senses the temperature of the fixing belt. The stopped time measuring portion measures a time period during which heating has been stopped before an instruction to start heating is inputted. The abnormality determination portion determines whether there is any abnormality in the fixing belt based on a change rate over time of a temperature sensed by the temperature sensing portion after heating of the fixing belt has started. Under a condition that a stopped time measured by the stopped time measuring portion is shorter than a configured time period determined in advance, the heating delay portion delays, for a predetermined time period, a timing at which heating of the fixing belt is to be started through generation of magnetic flux by the magnetic flux generating unit based on the instruction for start heating. |
