<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lignin derivative capable of improving dispersibility of various materials to be dispersed, in particular regardless of applications such as cement, dyestuff, a slurry for oil-well drilling or the like for the purpose of effective utilization of lignin as a biomass resource having high effectiveness on environmental load reduction from the recent aspect thereof. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a dispersant containing the lignin derivative being a reaction product of a lignin sulfonate-based compound and an aqueous monomer.
