[Class 12 (iii)] A lubricating device comprises a lubricant receptacle a having an outlet e at one end, a rigid porous body g preferably of sintered metal in the receptacle a, a felt pad f between the body g and the end of the receptacle and a wick h extending through the outlet e. Lubricant i disposed above the porous block g is fed to the wick e by absorption through the block g and pad f. An air vent comprising a hollow stem c extends into the receptacle from the cover d and forms a trap for the lubricant in the event of inversion of the receptacle. A window b formed by glass or other transparent lining is disposed within the body a or alternatively the body part may be wholly or in part of transparent material. The porous block g is kept in position by a sheetmetal retainer comprising side pieces j extending from a plate k. In a modification, Fig. 3, lubricant is stored within a porous block g which has a bore for receiving the wick h and additional bores having wicks n in contact with the pad f. The end of the container a is closed by a perforated plate or gauge m. The wick may comprise a bunch of bristles. |
