<p>The invention concerns a method of self-calibrating active antenna arrays comprising a plurality of active antenna elements whereas each antenna element comprising an antenna and a transceiver connected to the antenna at a radio frequency (RF) side via a transmit path and a receive path whereas the transceivers of all antenna elements are connected at a baseband side to a baseband processing unit and the antenna elements are calibrated and to concern an apparatus therefor. The object of the invention is to provide a calibration technique that improves the phase and time delay of each antenna element dynamically during operation of the system without interrupting the transmission and reception process and to provide a corresponding apparatus. This is solved by dynamically calculating a calibration signal for every antenna element whereas all antenna elements will be aligned to one another by said calculated calibration signal due to specific correlation results.</p> |
