[Class 80 (iii)] In a screw-and-nut mechanism having circulating balls 28 between corresponding helical grooves of the screw 25 and nut 22 the balls are circulated in separate helix turns the ends of which are connected by crossover grooves 31 in an insert member 30 in either the screw or nut. As shown the member 30 is secured in a longitudinal slot 29 of the screw 25 and projections 50 on each side of the cross-over grooves extend radially outward into the grooves of the nut 22. The mechanism is particularly applicable to electric jacks or actuators. |
