639,317. Watergas plant. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd. July 16, 1948, No. 19160. [Class 55 (i)] In a blue or carburetted water-gas plant comprising a number of sections 2a, 2b, 2c, at least two of which having waste heat boilers with a steam superheater 8a, 8b, 8c, within the gas inlet, the superheaters are connected in series to a main 26 having parallel connections to the boilers so that steam from any one or more boilers can be passed in succession through two or more superheaters. With three boilers operated out of phase with each other and a blow period of about half the length of the make period, a continuous supply of hot waste gases provides for continuous superheating. More than three sections are preferably arranged in pairs. Thus, with four sections steam from two pairs of boilers is separately superheated, and with one boiler not in operation steam from the other three may be passed in succession through the three superheaters. Steam from another source may be supplied to the main through a connection 22.
|
