639,290. Fastener for mouldings. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Jan 30, 1948, No. 2849. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1947. [Class 20 (iv)] A fastener for securing to a support 4 a channelshaped moulding 1 having spaced inturned flanges 2 has a support engaging shank 10 extending substantially normal from a head 15 which has spaced portions 22 which bear on the inner faces of the flanges 2 and integral spring arms 21 formed at opposite sides of the shank and bent from the plane of the head which have tensioned engagement with spaced portions of the inner wall of the face of the moulding. The head 15, advantageously formed of a single piece of shaped and hardened sheet metal, has a body portion 16 reinforced by ribs 20, diagonally opposite rounded corners 17, and a shaped hole 18 which receives the portion 12 of the shank so that the head is non-rotatable thereon. Spring arms 21 which extend in opposite directions on opposite sides of the body, are joined by lateral extensions 22, curve downwardly and then upwardly, and are strengthened by ribs or by being made transversely arcuate. Ribs 26 surrounding apertures 25 reinforce the body and are in the same plane as the extensions 22. The fastener is first fitted obliquely into the channel of the moulding which may have an irregular contour, slid longitudinally to the desired position, and then the head is rotated about the bolt 10 by means of a wrench engaging through apertures 25. The rotation is permitted by the rounded comers 17 and limited by the end edges 17a. |
