Coconut is treated with preferably not more than 5 per cent of an ingredient consisting of propylene glycol or butylene glycol in order to maintain a high moisture content, e.g., from 5-15 per cent for packaging without deterioration. The glycols may be used in combination with mould inhibitors, e.g., lactic acid or with emulsifying agents, e.g., glycerol monostearin. |
